Spotlight: Elizabeth Kerim, Designer at Compass Jewelry

Compass Jewelry is one of our vendors and a Make It sponsor!  Read on for a message from Designer, Elizabeth Kerim, and be sure to pay her a visit at the show this weekend!

Welcome to Compass Jewelry, my name is Elizabeth Kerim and I am the designer.

I started making jewelry at a young age with small seed beads and dental floss. Like all girls grow out of Barbie I put the beads down and concentrated on school, friends and life.
Over the last few years I have found a love for jewelry and designing, it's something that started as a hobby and it quickly turned into a bit of an obsession.  I love designing, I can't shut my mind off.  Sometimes I wake up at 6am for with ideas and all I can do is go to my studio and design.

The collection is broken down into 4 lines that represent 4 different styles. We often get into ruts of style, we find what makes us comfortable and we stick to it. I love working on these different lines because they have pushed me to think about jewelry and style in different ways.  What I want my collections to do it challenge you to try new pieces or styles that are outside of their comfort zone.

SIGNATURE
“Mae West Meets Breakfast at Tiffany’s”

This line takes classic pieces and gives them a bite of spice. Betty is an everyday woman; she works hard and plays hard, eats her hotdogs with mustard and her martinis dirty with olives. No nonsense and bold.

BUSINESS SASS
“Financial block appropriate jewelry with a bit of sass!”

You don’t have to limit yourself in a black and white suit world, add a bit of sass and keep things fun. Laurie is a total Financial District Mogal, a mover and shaker who casually finds herself in lunch meetings with CEO’s and takes her friends out for drinks in the evenings. Her style is classic business but every so often she throws on royal blue tights to see how far she can push her luck!

FRENCH KISSED
“French people love everything!” – Kim Primeau, real French person

Sometimes we limit ourselves by what we think looks ok or normal or what we’re told doesn’t ‘work’; the makeup artist Kim throws all the rules out the window! She has the ability to wear clothes that on anyone else would be a disaster, she not only pulls them off she makes it look fabulous! Kim’s style is an eclectic mix of awesomeness.

LADY & LACE
“The return of the classic lady in a modern sexy way”

Alana is the queen of taking vintage pieces and making them look modern and elegant. A modern contemporary dancer by trade Alana spends her days in dance sweats but when she gets a chance to let loose she finds vintage pieces in her closet and brings them new life. She is the ultimate lady.
